Marist School Mt Albert occupies a compact site and, with increasing demand for places at the school, needed to make efficient use of its
limited land resource.
The solution: the removal of multiple, aging, single storey buildings and their replacement with a two storey, 12 classroom-equivalent “Innovative Learning Environment” and library building, positioned to the boundary to make the most efficient use of the available land.
Extensive input to the development of the Unitary Plan in the preceding period, to ensure that the school had an enabling zoning, meant this was a relatively straightforward application, and showed the value of participating in the development of strategic planning documents.
